Task and Challenges
Should we accept a
task based on our current capabilities or take on a task to develop new skills?
Both perspectives can be valid in their own way. Sometimes, in a surge of
overconfidence, one might accept a challenging task with the intention of
building one’s capabilities. However, this approach can backfire, leading to a
loss of trust from the person who assigned the task. On the other hand, being
overly cautious out of fear of failure can result in consistently declining
tasks that seem difficult. This may lead to a lack of growth in skills and
knowledge within our chosen field.
So, why should we
accept difficult tasks?
We cannot truly
understand our capabilities until we are confronted with challenging tasks.
Initially, a new task may seem daunting, and every aspect will present a
challenge. If we embrace the challenge, we will gradually discover that our
skills are developing. Let’s go ahead and try something we have never attempted
before; it could be a test of our abilities or even the spark for a new
passion.
