Character Assassination
The character of a person can often be
judged by how they speak about others in their absence. If someone indulges in
character assassination, it’s a sign that we should maintain our distance, as
we might be next on their list. A person of good character helps others
overcome their mistakes and refrains from speaking negatively about them when
they are not present.
Not everyone will accept a one-sided
story, and many people prefer to avoid negativity and gossip. We have the
choice to discuss either productive topics or the qualities of a person that
can inspire us. Let’s not waste our time speaking ill of others in their
absence or dwelling on negatives. Engaging in such discussions not only fills
our minds with negativity but also wastes our present time, which neither
corrects past mistakes nor helps build a better future.
