An
organisation can be a Poem or a Symphony.
When too many poets recite together,
even a beautiful poem can sound like a cacophony. In contrast, when each poet
is given a chance to recite separately, it can express melancholy. If everyone
recites a poem in unison, it becomes an oratorio. However, if the same poets
are trained and guided for a better experience, it transforms into a treat for
the ears.
Similarly, when numerous instruments
play together, following their respective notes, and if they meet particular
musical criteria, it becomes a symphony. An experienced composer crafts a
symphony, which becomes a musical delight when well-conducted.
Drawing a parallel to an organisation,
when too many people speak simultaneously, it results in noise and unproductive
discussions. However, when individuals are given time to speak, the
conversation becomes meaningful. If everyone is committed to a shared goal, the
meeting becomes successful. Just as a symphony requires an expert composer who
understands the nuances of each musical instrument, a leader must be aware of
the strengths of their team members so that, when they collaborate, they can
achieve the best results.
An organisation can be a poem and a
symphony, depending on how we manage the people involved.
I pay tribute to Maestro Ilaiyaraaja
for being the first Indian to compose a symphony, "Valiant."
May he remain jubilant forever, and may his music fill the air so that we
breathe melody daily.
