Overcoming Illusory Truth Effect
When repeatedly exposed to a lie, we
gradually believe it is true. This belief can lead us to make decisions based
on information presented multiple times. This phenomenon is known as the
illusory truth effect.
To overcome this, we should first recognise
that repeated exposure to specific information often indicates a hidden agenda
behind it. It is important to remain cautious and continuously ask critical
questions to determine whether the information is true or false.
