The
most powerful God and the Temple
A middle-aged man asked a monk,
"Which temple has the most powerful God?" The monk smiled and
replied, "Is God one or many?"
The man, feeling uncertain, said,
"I know it is one, but in practice, we follow many."
The monk continued, "If there is
one God, how can you ask who is most powerful? If there are many, how do you
evaluate their power? What criteria do you use to assess their strength?"
Confused, the middle-aged man
responded, "So, we cannot determine in which temple there is a powerful
God?"
The monk said, "Listen carefully.
The most potent God is you, and your body is the temple. Your devotion to God
should be the same as your devotion to yourself. The sanctity with which you
maintain your temple should be the same with which you treat your body.
Remember, every person is God, and their body is a temple. God will live within
us when we are devoted to ourselves and each other.
Dogmas and religions are manmade
theories. Instead of succumbing to such thoughts, focus on yourself and your
body; that is where you truly live."
