Islands of Life- Island -2- Efforts

 An Interaction about Wisdom

The young man and the elderly person reached an Island called efforts. The elderly person said" The results of our endeavours is in the efforts we put.
In this island called efforts we can either pick up pearls called rewards or Learning.

Remember, not all the efforts yield immediate results, some might take time and some might not yield the desired result, but it does teach us lessons.
In this island you can attain Wisdom by reflecting, realizing and Learning that today's rewards doesn't guarantee future results and delayed or undesired results doesn't mean your efforts have gone in vain.
When these Learnings are seen in your future efforts, it is wisdom in action.

It takes efforts to get the pearls from the deep sea, enjoy this island of efforts to pick up either the pearls of rewards or pearls of Learning.
In fact, when you spend more time in the island of efforts you can also get pearls like skills, knowledge, etc.
The young man asked " How long should I spend time in this island?" The elderly person said "it depends upon what do you want to achieve, how much and by when do you want to achieve"
The elderly person was tying the boat to the pole and young man started walking on the shores of the island.
Reflect upon your efforts and results for a while, till we set the sail for the next island.

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
