Interaction with Failures

Part-8

Mr. Habit: What habits of yours has resulted in your downfall?

John: Gambling and betting

Mr. Habit: How often do you engage in it?

John: During my non-business hours

Mr. Habit: have you earned money

John: Yes, but less than what I have lost

Mr. Habit smiles, you lost more than, you earned

John: You told it straight

Mr. Habit: What measure did you take, to overcome the habit?

John: Nothing much, it stopped when I didn’t have money

Mr. Habit: Am I right in understanding that you had multiple businesses?

John: Yes, I did have multiple business but I started closing one by one

Mr. Habit:  can you mentally work out how much you would have lost in Gambling?

John thinks for a while and notes down in a piece of paper

Mr. Habit: Can you write down the business in which you invested the least but earned more

John does some calculation and write down the figures

Mr. Habit: Now compare the figures between your business and Gambling to identify which has earned more

John: My business has earned more than Gambling

Mr. Habit: From where did you get money for Gambling/betting

John: It was from my business

Mr. Habit: If you would have invested the same money in your business, do you think you would have earned more money than gambling/betting

John: Yes, I would have but there is no fun and thrill in leading such a life

Mr. Habit: I do agree you need to have fun but not to the extent of ruining your business and life

John: You are right, I should have fixed a limit

Mr. Habit: Rely on your efforts not on your luck, take risk in your business using your intelligence, hard work, contacts etc. Gambling and betting are not your business, neither you have a control nor say in it.

John thinks deeply on what Mr. Habit said and asks how do I come out of these kinds of habits

Mr. Habit:  From the conversation I understood that you didn’t know how to use your free time, that forced you towards gambling /betting

John: Yes, I do agree with you

Mr. Habit: New habit kills old habits

John: so, I should engage in a new hobby which will give me fun and help me relax

Mr. Habit: But, ensure you don’t get addicted to it, remember “Habits determines your success”

Mr. Habit: John, can you share your insights

John: I need to start a new hobby

Mr. Habit disappears and a new habit flashes in John’s mind

John closes his eyes for few minutes and opens his eyes and sees Mr. Anger

Being Jaby is being a fine human being.

Being Jaby is being a fine human being.   L&D Global Chennai Chapter was instrumental in bringing Jaby closer to my heart, our journey was not too long, but it was filled with fun, humour, joy and learning too. When Jaby was present, dullness was absent. He filled the hall with his sense of humour, and his thoughts were deep-rooted in bringing the best out of every human. Jaby was the most admired person in any forum; when Jaby picked the mic, the audience pulled themselves to the edge of the chair. Jaby was casual in his appearance, but he was a thorough professional everywhere. During COVID, if there was one person whom I counted on to help people, it was Jaby; his car was filled with masks, sanitizer and an oxygen concentrator. His social bent of mind made him a good Samaritan. Jaby was a curious child, whenever we both met, he was curious to improve his skills and knowledge, and his quest for development was limitless. Jaby and I collaborated in the year ...
