Foresight-Industrial of Tamil Nadu
Foresight is when you can predict what's likely to happen in the
future by learning from past experiences, identifying what's happening now, and
understanding the consequences of your decisions.
Foresight-A Good Leader sees the future; a Great
Leader creates the future. Kamaraj was very much instrumental in converting
Tamil Nadu into an Industrial with his ability to see the future and work
towards creating it.
Five-year plan was launched at the national level, during
this period Kamaraj made sure this opportunity needs to be well utilised for
developing Tamil Nadu.
These five-year plans were well used creating an
Industrial Revolution in the state of Tamil Nadu, the following are some of the
industries that was established by Kamaraj:

Perambur ICF (Integral coach factory) was
established in Chennai,
·
Hindustan Teleprinter workshop in Guindy
Industrial estate,
·
Hindustan Photo Film Workshop in Ooty,
·
High-pressure boiler plant (BHEL – Bharat
Heavy Electrical Limited) in Trichy-Tiruverambur, around 750 acres of patta
land and 2,400 acres of unregistered land was allocated for this project.
Today, the internationally renowned, BHEL has attained
the status of ‘Maharatna’
which is amongst the highly profitable within the public-sector companies.
Tank Factory, Avadi was established under the Ministry of
Defence, for the development of defence industry, here, along with public sector,
the private sector also works combined to provide several businesses
opportunities. ‘Madras Industrial Investment Corporation, Ashok Leyland
factory, TI Bicycle Factory, Simpson, India Pistons, TVS Lucas’ all these
factories were started during his period.
In 1951, the number of textile plants in the state was
71, which increased to, 134 at the end of 1962. Spinning mills were
commencement with the help of co-operative sector. The number of sugar mills
rose from three to eight, their produces touched 127500 Tonnes.
Kamaraj was eyeing
at industrial growth and employment hence he launched industrial estates in
Guindy, Madras and in Virudhunagar. Following the increased benefits of these
Industrial Estates, actions were taken to establish more such Industrial zones
in Kumbakonam, Virudhachalam, Krishnagiri, Theni, Dindigul, Kovilpatti,
Rajapalayam, Nagercoil, Ambattur near Chennai, and allocated funds of Rs .4.08
crore with this regard.
Besides these
places even in Madurai, Tirunelveli, Trichy and Marthandam (Kanyakumari)
industrial zones were started. Ambattur Industrial Estate in Chennai, was
starting by allocating 1,200 acres of land, and 400 enterprises were
established.
As a Leader his
ability to foresee the need for industries and his affection towards people has
resulted in the above achievement.
