Commitment to growth of people-A true leader is committed towards people’s growth, Kamaraj right from his young age till his death he was committed towards people’s growth right from freedom struggle till building Tamil Nadu. Here is one major instance that proves his commitment to people growth:




He had entrusted the Department of Hindu Religious Endowment to Parameswaran who belonged to the Harijan community along with the portfolios of Harijan Upliftment and Prohibition. This might be incidental or planned purposely which could not be guessed by any one.



But this move had far reaching consequences. As a minister of Hindu Religious Endowments, Parameswaran would receive the respect and honours   from all the temples in Tamilnadu which the traditional orthodoxy would not have approved earlier. Moreover, by this very act, the Dalits in Tamilnadu will inherit a deeper sense of equality and confidence about their elevated social status in the new government headed by Kamaraj.



In this way Kamaraj had brought about a social revolution as the high caste trustees of the temples will have to receive the Harijan minister with respect. These conciliatory gestures and steps for the harmonious existence of the people in the society drew wide appreciation for Kamaraj. 



The Indian Express had praised Kamaraj saying that under his leadership the different groups in the Congress legislative party, the Parliamentary wing and the Congress organization all would be in amity.
