We give our premises for polio drops
every month to the local medical centre. A lady comes to our house and we
assist her setting up the table.
Today morning I overheard a
conversation between that lady and a parent who was on the other side of the
phone. The parent was asking for the route to my home and this lady was trying
to explain in spite of her busy schedule of giving polio drops to the children
who were waiting in the line. At one point of time she made a statement " வாய் தான் வழி (Mouth is the route) and told the parent to ask for the route &
reach the place.
The statement made by her was ringing
in my mind while I was getting ready for my meeting.
Are we like that parent who has
forgotten to ask for assistance on the way to find the address? Are we more
dependent on GPS to find places?
In those days we used to remember
many telephone numbers but today we remember hardly few
In those days we used to calculate
without calculators but today a simple addition requires a calculator
In those days we used to stop in the
auto stand or near a mobile laundry to find a place, but today we use GPS.
We are slowly losing our fundamental
human faculties and being a social animal, we can't afford to lose our ability
to speak & listen, which invariably develops in our day to day Interaction.
When we stop and ask for assistance
to find a route, we are unconsciously improving our communication skills as
well as listening skills.
Do stop to
ask because வாய் தான் வழி (Mouth is the route).
