          K.Kamaraj a True Servant Leader-Part-9

 Stewardship-Serving for a cause

Stewardship-Taking responsibility for the action of the team members, being accountable and serving others are the qualities of others. To lead the above seven qualities is not possible without the eight-quality called- Stewardship.

There are many situations that proves Kamaraj’s Stewardship and here are few occasions to prove his Stewardship:

Kamaraj removed the controversial family vocation based Hereditary Education Policy introduced by Rajaji. He reopened the 6000 schools closed earlier for financial reasons and also added 12000 more schools. The State made immense strides in education and trade. New schools were opened, so that poor rural students were to walk no more than 3 miles (4.8 km) to their nearest school. Better facilities were added to existing ones. No village remained without a primary school and no panchayat without a high school. Kamaraj strove to eradicate illiteracy by introducing free and compulsory education up to the eleventh standard

All Leadership crisis at the national level was spearheaded and well handled by Kamaraj despite of internal conflicts, a man who believed in people first. Let it be farmers crisis or weavers’ crisis, he made his officers to come with solutions rather than problems.

When he was defeated in the election, he neither played the blame game nor proved the winning party wrong, he took the reasonability of the defeat and immediately got into action in building Indian National congress.

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
