Memory: a strength and a Weakness
Good memory can be
both a strength and a weakness. It is a strength when we remember the people
who have done good things for us, but it becomes a weakness when we cannot
forget those who have wronged us. Memory can evoke gratitude, but it can also
lead to stress. While it is easy to say we should forget the negative
experiences, these memories can linger for a long time.
The art of letting go
of the past requires us to practice the science of forgiveness. Forgiving
others is a way to free ourselves from the pain and suffering caused by their
actions. If we do not learn to forgive, we risk becoming prisoners of our
negative memories.
