The Journey of Efforts to Extra Efforts

The Journey Efforts to Extra Efforts

The term "effortless" may imply ease, but every action, including writing and spelling the word effortless, requires effort. Without effort, nothing happens in this world. For instance, a seed in the ground exerts effort to sprout, and a chick tries to break free from its egg.

Some students put in the effort to pass their exams, while others go the extra mile to become top achievers. This article emphasises the significance of making extra efforts in life. Whether in our careers or personal lives, extra effort truly matters.

Consider a salesman who meets with assigned customers; this is an effort for which he is paid. However, if the salesman puts in extra effort to promote additional products and acquire new customers, he will likely be rewarded. Similarly, a person who walks a certain number of steps may maintain their weight, but someone who makes the extra effort to walk even more steps may lose weight.

In critical health situations, such as when patients are admitted to the hospital for lung-related illnesses, they often use an incentive spirometer. Some patients put in effort but take time to recover, while others who put in extra effort to blow into the spirometer tend to recover more quickly.

Effort helps us survive, while a little extra effort allows us to strive, and significantly more effort enables us to thrive. The transition from merely surviving to truly thriving is entirely within our control.

We lead fulfilling lives when we make the necessary effort and succeed when we do.

After reading this, it's clear that understanding the importance of making extra efforts doesn’t take much work. However, we must make the extra effort to put what we learn into practice.

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
