Happy Nuts

Happy Nuts

Two colleagues met in a cafeteria for a coffee break. One colleague, Ravi, said to Param, "Anytime I see you, you always look happy." Param asked, "What is your definition of happiness?" Ravi replied, "Being cheerful, lively, having a constant smile on my face, humming songs, and being energetic." Param asked if he saw all these qualities in him. Ravi nodded and said, "Yes."

Param continued, "Those who live in the present always enjoy every moment of their lives. Once they accept that the present is the reality, they carry their cheerfulness, which is why people see us as happy."

He explained, "Many people are lost in past events or worried about the future. With this mindset, they are constantly battling within themselves and, as a result, appear dull."

Param added, "What has happened is in the past, and what might happen is uncertain. There’s no point in dwelling on either extreme. It’s better to be grateful that we are here and to cherish our existence. That’s the secret to being happy."

Ravi smiled and said, "Though it was a long explanation, it was worth listening to."

Sitting next to Ravi, Hari interjected, "Life is getting tougher day by day. My appraisal was bad, and this blasted AI is replacing humans!"

Param looked at Ravi and said, "Hari is a perfect example of what we discussed."

Hari asked, "What were you guys talking about?"

Ravi explained, "The difference between happy people and unhappy people."

Hari replied, "Happiness is not on my list."

Param responded, "When happiness is within you, it doesn't need to be on your list."

"Hari said, "You’re sounding stoic."

Param replied, "Thank you," and bid farewell to Hari and Ravi.

Hari then asked Ravi, "How was your appraisal?"

Ravi said, "Until I met Param, I was unhappy about it, but I realize there's no point in living in the past when I have the gift of the present."

Hari chuckled and said, "You guys are nuts!"

Ravi smiled back and said, "Yes, Happy Nuts!"

The Modes of Persuasion The modes of persuasion, often referred to as ethical strategies or rhetorical appeals, are devices in rhetoric that classify the speaker's appeal to the audience. They are: ethos, pathos, logos, and the less-used Kairos & telos The above model has been used by Advertisement agencies to grab the attention of the viewers and finally bring them to the purchase desk or use the cart in shopping sites. If we carefully examine the model, it has a sound application in running an effective training program too.
