Stop believing and start inquiring.
A young man asked an
old man about the difference between superstitious beliefs and religious
beliefs. The old man replied, "I do not believe in either. Superstitious
beliefs are created by religion, and man created religion."
The young man then
asked, "Do you believe in God?" The old man responded, "No, God
is also a creation of man."
Curious, the young
man asked, "If you don't believe in anything, what do you believe
in?" The old man replied, "Nothing. The moment I start believing, I
will stop inquiring. Once I stop inquiring, I will lose the curiosity to know
more. If I lose my curiosity, I will begin to accept anything that comes my way
and ultimately lose my identity.
My identity should
not be defined by religion, caste, creed, or ideology. I should evolve,
explore, discover, and be excited to learn more. To achieve this, I must stop
believing and start inquiring in life."
