Goals Vs Obsession

 Goals Vs Obsession

Some become obsessive about what they want to achieve in the name of being goal-oriented. Let it be the students who aim to get good high marks are sometimes so obsessed that they burn their midnight oil and fall sick, resulting in health problems; some are so obsessed that they end their lives when they don't achieve what they desire. Being fit is right, but some work out too much that they indulge in steroids, which finally becomes fatal, and they collapse in the gym. Some are so obsessed with financial freedom that they engage in illegal and unethical activities.

We need to be goal-oriented but not obsessed with it. As Bruce Lee said, "There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there; you must go beyond them. " A goal is not always meant to be reached; it often serves simply as something to aim at.

Ask yourself if you are goal-oriented or obsessed with your goal. If you realise you are obsessed, pause, free yourself, and be prepared to lose. Sometimes, failures are an opportunity to take a break and restart.
