Truth: Are we Prepared to listen to it?
We expect honesty and
truthful people around us, but are we truly prepared to hear the truth that may
challenge our biases? Are we willing to acknowledge the shortcomings of our
favorite person when they are proven wrong? Are we ready to accept the truth
about our preferred political party when caught in a corruption scandal? Are we
prepared to face the reality of our nation, which struggles with unemployment,
indiscipline, and poor health infrastructure?
I don't believe we
are adequately prepared to accept the truth. We tend to be biased and only want
to hear positive things about the individuals, parties, or our nation. With
this attitude, truth will remain neglected, and we will continue to associate with
morally wrong individuals, support corrupt political parties, and maintain
blind loyalty to our nation despite its flaws in the name of patriotism.
Meanwhile, we expect good governance, convinced that what we know is the truth
and that opposing viewpoints are lies.
Unless we take a
stand and call things as they are, we risk remaining educated puppets in the
hands of wrongdoers while mistakenly believing we are being led astray. In
reality, we may be governed like slaves.
