Wisdom From the Jungle
A man was observing a Rabbit, a Tortoise, a Peacock, and a Parrot sitting together and laughing. The man approached them and said, "You guys are having a great time, but sometimes when we humans sit together and talk, it ends up in arguments and conflicts."
The Rabbit replied,
"I can run faster than the Tortoise, but it is unfair to judge the
Tortoise's speed by comparing it to mine. The Tortoise has a unique skill.
Humans, though alike in many ways, are each unique in their own right. However,
instead of respecting this uniqueness, you often compare yourselves to others,
leading to feelings of inferiority or superiority."
The Tortoise chimed
in, "I may seem lazy, but I still play my role at any given moment. Your ancestors
could navigate thousands of years ago using our ancestors navigation skills.
Unfortunately, you use us as the wrong example when you refer to people as
slow. Remember, not everyone has the same nimbleness; humans are diverse."
The Peacock said,
"I dance when I choose, but you expect others to dance to your tunes. That
mindset represents supremacy in action, which ultimately robs others of their
freedom."
The Parrot added,
"You respect people who share your views, but dissent is also a valid way
of life."
The Rabbit concluded,
"If humans can understand the value of diversity, they will accept
differences more easily. But if you insist that everyone should be the
same—speaking the same language, eating the same food, and having similar likes
and dislikes—you will lose the essence of living. This mindset leads to
perpetual hatred and conflict when you come together."
The man bowed his
head in shame and walked away, reflecting on the wisdom the animals and birds
shared.
