Pencil and Employees
A new and unused
pencil is like a new employee who has yet to be trained. Judging a new pencil
without sharpening it is pointless; similarly, assessing an untrained employee
is unfair.
An unsharpened pencil
may not produce the desired results. In the same way, expecting an employee to
perform well without developing their skills will not enhance their competence.
A broken pencil is
not a good tool to hold; it could injure the person using it. Likewise,
employees who are demotivated, criticized, or hurt can be challenging to
manage. Handling such individuals requires addressing their issues first.
A pencil that has
become too short may be difficult to grip, just as an older, physically tired
employee may need to be offered a dignified retirement.
While pencils may be
made by different manufacturers and come in various colors, their purpose
remains the same. Similarly, employees may come from different universities and
backgrounds, but ultimately, we must enhance their skills and knowledge without
causing stress or physical strain.
