Burden makes us

 Burden makes us

A man was carrying heavy luggage in both hands and walking quickly to reach his destination. Once he arrived, he took a deep breath. A young man and a monk observed this entire scene. The monk asked the young man what he noticed. The young man replied, "The man was carrying something beyond his physical limits and was rushing to relieve himself of the burden."

The monk then pointed out a man carrying a single light piece of luggage and asked the young man for his observations. The young man remarked, "He appears relaxed and calm as he walks to his destination."

The monk explained, "The heavy luggage symbolizes the burdens of life. Those who view their burdens as opportunities will quickly find ways to lighten them. In contrast, those who have less will approach life more slowly and with greater ease. However, when you begin your career, it's essential to take on responsibilities to strengthen yourself. As you grow, learn to ease life's burdens while remaining relaxed.

If we avoid taking on burdens at a young age and become accustomed to a lighter workload, even a slight increase in responsibility will feel overwhelming. Therefore, it is better to take on tough challenges and become stronger rather than to choose easy tasks and risk becoming weaker in the future."

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
