Painkiller is a Killer

 Painkiller is a Killer

A young professional experienced a toothache while working during the day. To alleviate the pain, he searched for painkillers online and ordered some. After taking a tablet, he felt relief and was able to focus on his work. This pattern continued for some time without him seeking help from a dentist.

One day at work, he began to feel uneasy in his stomach and decided to see a doctor. After an examination, he was diagnosed with an ulcer. During their discussion, he revealed that he used painkillers to manage his toothache. The doctor provided a prescription and advised him on dietary changes. On his next visit, the doctor noticed that he had recovered and emphasised the importance of not taking medications without consulting a doctor. He also warned that prolonged use of painkillers can harm not only the pain itself but also the person suffering from it.

As you read this, some of you may identify with the character in the story who has recovered; others might be using painkillers without understanding their implications, while some may have considered using them. Take a moment to use your phone to schedule an appointment with your doctor, rather than searching Google for symptoms and remedies.

This story reflects not only the issue of painkiller use but also broader life lessons. Instead of conducting a root cause analysis to address the problems we face, we often seek temporary solutions, such as painkillers. While these provide immediate relief, they do not resolve the underlying issues.

Health is easy to maintain when we are free from illness, but it becomes much harder to manage once disease strikes. It is better to seek a cure rather than just relief. Today's quick fix may lead to unbearable and irreversible consequences if we depend on painkillers for our health and shortcuts for our problems.

The Modes of Persuasion The modes of persuasion, often referred to as ethical strategies or rhetorical appeals, are devices in rhetoric that classify the speaker's appeal to the audience. They are: ethos, pathos, logos, and the less-used Kairos & telos The above model has been used by Advertisement agencies to grab the attention of the viewers and finally bring them to the purchase desk or use the cart in shopping sites. If we carefully examine the model, it has a sound application in running an effective training program too. Part-1-Ethos Application of the model in training program Ethos- Trainer Introduction There are organization where trainer and his credibility are introduced, but there are occasions where trainer does a self-intro and starts the program. In such occasions, we can request the client to handover a copy our profile to the participants along with course material. This will help the participants to know more about the trainer It is always bett...
