Leadership Lessons
from a Street Vendor-Part-2
Lesson for being
Accessible
They locate and Position themselves in a conducive place: A street Vendor knows the art of positioning his outlet in the place where it is easy to locate and access. Sometimes, he/she will personally visit the customers who finds it difficult to access him/her and gives them a comfort of door delivery. By doing this it will help him/her to serve more customers and it will also establish his/her presence in the locality.
Good Leaders treat their subordinates like an
Internal customer and hence they will position themselves in place where it is
easy for team members to access. When it comes to remote locations, the Leader
will be in touch on regular intervals and will give the team the liberty of
calling them.
These kinds of behaviors will increase the trust
and gives a moral support to the team members.
Workplace communication is not only about performance, but also about
being connected with the team members in the right time.
Ask for yourself the following question
·
Are you accessible?
·
Have you given the
comfort of being accessible?
·
Do you meet your
subordinates in their workstation?
A street vendor sometimes elevates from a product
supplier, to a trusted friend. This solely happens because of the connect,
he/she establishes, similarly Leaders becomes well-wishers /guides because of
their willingness to stay connected.
Where there is Accessibility there is Trust, where there is Trust
there is openness
