Leadership Lessons from Walkers-Part-2

The walkers extend their relationship beyond walking and they help each other in their life. Here are some qualities that we can learn from walkers

Observers-Watching others Endurance: There are some members who will keenly observe other members speed, steps, endurance and give feedback about their stamina too. The observer will share his thoughts and might suggest a medical check-up too. The Lesson we can learn from such walkers are, Leader should be a keen observer, he/she should constantly look for variation in performance and keep giving their inputs to ensure their subordinates quickly improve themselves. Such observation is not a fault-finding exercise, it is a concern to ensure consistent performance.

Team spirit – Walking Together: The walkers do not compete with each other, they maintain a phase to ensure everyone is comfortable, which in turn improves cohesiveness. The lesson we can learn from the team spirit exhibited by the walkers is, a Leader plays a vital role in developing cohesiveness in a team and hence he /she  reduces unwanted competition which becomes instrumental in supplementing each other’s strengths

Closing chat- Exchanging Thoughts -At the end of the walking, the walkers take some rest and share their needs/information etc, to bond with each other. The lesson we can take from this quality is, as a Leader it is always good to close a day by having a healthy discussion which ends on a positive note, by doing so the subordinates can leave to home peacefully

Few miles of walking might reduce few kilos on the waist & few minutes of bonding a day increases Performance Everyday
